RESIDENCY| SHADOW AND LIGHT (PART 2)|OONA MINOO

3-19 June 2024

workshop 14June 15:00-17:00

“About Shadow And Light” is dedicated to a primal human need: Telling stories and listening to them.

Through movement and music this project explores the meaning of myths and fairy tales for our society and approaches them from a female perspective. How much complexity is there behind these seemingly black-and-white stories? Why have they remained vibrant to this day? Who is actually telling them? And are we told everything?

In this first research periode I will explore “the act of telling” via the body and via the voice. I will also experiment with combining those two media of expression. How does my body tell a story? What wants to be expressed through the body and what through the voice? And what happens when they both meet?

As a basis for this project I want to explore different movement qualities and how it can be made possible to change instantly between them. Therefore I want to connect movement with music. How can rhythm/music help create and change movement qualities? How can the use of the voice support my movement and the other way around?

Oona Minoo is an interdisciplinary performer/maker in the fields of music and dance from Vienna, currently based in The Hague. In her work she experiments with the relationship between different media of expression and has a particular interest in the relationship between music and movement. Not letting herself be limited by borders of genres, Oona blends together her artistic backgrounds in music, dance and theatre. Central to her is the contact with the audience and making art accessible to everyone.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP : In this workshop I will share some approaches to movement improvisation with you, that I am exploring myself at the moment. Working with imagination and the relationship to music, we will dive into different movement qualities. We will explore how rhythm and the use of our voice can support and inspire our bodily expression. We will also have time to exchange and reflect on our experiences during the workshop.

This workshop is free and for all levels!
