“AWASEed” is the interactive performance inspired by the game of Awase, a matching game that was popular in Japan during the Heian period (794-1185).
Players set clam shells, which all have a different drawing on the backside. One player picks two of them randomly and has to compare and contrast the two drawings in order to find their similarities and differences. The goal of the game is to simply enjoy the change in perception that happens when two objects are put together. Instead of clams you are asked to play with salt!
