ILM open day

Thursday 9th November 2023

Welcome to the Ilan Lev Method (ILM) open day. The Method brings an explosion of movement, life force energy, playful provocation, and joy to the body. This creates the environment in which the body’s natural ability to heal itself can arise. We discover optimal range of motion, efficiency of effort, and a new understanding of ourselves, through play.

In this free open day event we will explore two aspects of the method:

Movement class – a practice we do together to explore the body and discover it trough our own movements.

Quickie session – a short version of the full session, meant to give a taste of the possibilities the method can provide. (Given by experienced practitioners)

Day schedule: Thursday Nov 9th

09:30 – Movement class

10:30 – Quickies

12:30 – Q & A

This is a free event, you are welcome to join and invite your friends!

ILM Movement classes

I’m very excited to introduce ILM movement classes in The Hague.

On October 31st we will start eight days of movement classes in CLOUD/danslab. You can join individual classes, or attend all eight days (as a mini course if you like).

What are ILM movements classes?

Movement lessons in the Ilan Lev method enable us to move with increased ease and efficiency. The classes aid in minimizing effort and unlocking the fluidity of movement within the body – allowing us to breathe freely and release accumulated tensions.

In these movement classes, we scan fundamental body functions and the way movement passes through them. This offers us possibilities to expand our range of motion and delve endlessly into the exploration of movement.

Contact Improvisation Intensive: Dancing the Unknown

This intensive experience is designed to expand your physical and sensory awareness, embrace vulnerability, and dive into the art of dancing the unknown.

Open to participants of all levels, this workshop creates a supportive and adventurous space for exploration and self-discovery. You will be guided through a series of exercises, improvisations, and explorations that will challenge and inspire you.

Throughout the workshop, we will explore themes such as trust-building, risk-taking, and deepening connections. The approach, influenced by various somatic practices, blends technique and creativity to unlock your full expressive potential.

The exercises will be ranging from structured explorations to open-ended improvisations. By breaking down specific skills and techniques, we allow for focused practice and expansion of your movement vocabulary. Through playful experimentation and deep embodiment, you will discover new possibilities in movement and connection.

We will be immersed in an atmospheric soundscape carefully curated to enhance your journey. Long tracks, ambient melodies, and moments of structured silence will deepen your connection to the physical sensations and emotions that arise during the practice.

He prioritises the establishment of trust and safety with dance partners, enabling participants to take risks together and experience the transformative power of Contact Improvisation. Ady’s classes and workshops are characterised by a deep sense of connection, authenticity, and the exploration of inner silence and togetherness.

Falling into the unknown: contact & improvisation workshop

In this contact improvisation class, we will explore the concept of surrendering to the unknown. We will investigate the sensation of falling from one axis to another, and inquire into what happens in the space between those falls.

By practicing being in the unknown, we will discover new possibilities for movement and connection with our dance partners. We will also delve into the idea of finding balance within imbalance, and how this can lead to a deeper sense of trust and collaboration in our dance.

Throughout the class, we will cultivate a willingness to be without answers, and embrace the journey of discovery that arises from surrendering to the present moment.

All levels of experience are welcome, so come with an open mind and a desire to explore the depths of movement and connection. See you on the dance floor!
