THE HAGUE by Ady Elzam
Contact Improvisation has been a long passion of mine for the past 15 years. I started out training with a dance company that integrated a lot of partner work into their dance performances. Then, as I fell in-love with the form, I started to understand the formless aspect of CI.
Contact is clear, it gives you a relation to your partner that is always there.
Improvisation is a mystery, you will never catch it, and if you think you did, it changes…
In this weekend in-depth workshop we will play with both form and formless. Practice a few clear and simple CI “rules” and find the freedom within them. We will dive into the sensory body, feeling our movements from within and follow shared decision making process of a duet at the same time. I’m a big believer in learning while moving, so we will dance!
About the facilitator:
Ady Elzam is a dancer from Israel based in Belgium (soon moving to Den Haag). Ady studied and danced with Vertigo dance company, Dede dance and a few more dance groups. He trained extensively in CI with many of the leading teachers of the form. Ady is curious especially around the question of what is improvisation and how can we engage with it. As a teacher he likes to engage his students with the unknown and study the results.. www.adyelzam.com
